About Dohwa, Kim So-young

Graduated in 2010 with a major in Ceramic Arts from the Department of Crafts at Sungshin Women’s University. From 2016 to 2024, she has held 10 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions.

Artist Note

We are stars in the vast universe.The 100 billion stars, like our Sun, each emit their own unique light within the galaxy. Similarly, the precious lives born on Earth shine with their own individual light. The artist began capturing the universe and stars in ceramic forms, which are eternal and unchanging. Just as the stars exist with distinct lights, the artist hopes for each person to find their unique value and shine brightly in their own life. This intention continues through the 'Universe star' series.

Since 2011, the artist has walked the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage nine times. The wisdom and insights gained along the journey are embedded within the works. The moments when things did not go as planned, the experiences of losing and then finding the way, all find their way into the art.
